My favourite goals in WC06

The Best Goals in World Cup 2006

Maxi Rodriguez v Mexico
This is the best goal I ever seen, how he can chest the ball, then volley it to the right corner of the goal post is such superb skill (or it was a lucky unintentional shot). Whatever it is, it was the best executed score ever!!!

Beckham v Ecuador
Last WC2002 we remember Ronaldinho goal from free kick, this year Beckham's goal from free kick looks so perfect. But comparing the 2 goals, Ronaldinho is still the best for me.

Joe Cole v Sweden
This one looks like Rodriguez goal, less dramatic but equally nice... I love it!

Its goals like these that makes the sleepless-nights-dizzying-head-throbbing-days-at-work, worth it.

Extreme TV Antenna

This is a TV antenna I bought at Giant Supermarket, JB at rm29.90. Its really huge and it comes with a booster, amplifier, cables and remote control to rotate the antenna if needed... not bad at all for rm29.90 (SGD$13) only. It comes unassembled so you have to put it all together yourself, it took me about an hour as its quite complicated at first. But does it work.... it does!!!. Watching TV3, NT7, RTM2, TV9, 8TV, SCTV and RCTI are like watching with cable.

For the daily TV schedules, click for your tv channels website :

RTM1 : RTM2 : TV3 : NTV7 : 8TV : TV9
SCTV : RCTI

and here's the frequency for each TV channels, all UHF
TV3 (511) - NT7 (639) - MY9 (655) -
MY8 (671) - SCTV (679) - RCTI (647)

part 2

Part 2 - continued from last post...

25 June - Akhirnya kita selamat pulang ke tanahair. Actually kita dah sampai ke JB semalam (sabtu) tapi macam malas nak go through checkpoint, so kita bermalam kat New York Hotel, JB (rm120), surprisingly this is a very good hotel and we would recommend to anyone to stay here if you have S$50 to spare over the weekend. It has Spa facilities (free for guests -separate male/female steambath, sauna all beside the swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym), good breakfast (lots of varieties - all you can eat pratas) and good-clean-big rooms. We are certainly recharged after a week worth of travelling up north-east of Malaysia.

Sweet Memories....

  • Awang Resort is still my favorite beach resort. Whenever I am stressed out, I always visuallised myself lying on the beach, and when I finally reached there last week, I feel like I reach home.
  • Snorkelling at Pulau Kapas was so much fun, couldn't stop swimming further and further. I love watching and playing with the fishes up close, if you float silently, the fishes will come nibble at your fingers and come really close to your goggles, and if you really move slowly the fishes will follow you like pets.
  • One of the "sea-things" that looks scary are the sea-urchins, they really look like they going to attack you with their sharp points. Each of them have 2 blue and 1 red eyes.
  • We played captain ball after snorkelling, and scared the fishes away.
  • Coming back from snorkelling, I swam from the jetty to shore, and I get to swim directly towards the school of fishes. It looks like you going into a dark, black cloud, and when it comes closer you can really see the thousands of small fishes coming towards you fast and collide against the skin, it looks scary but feel ticklish.
  • Chandat sotong event, no need to say more already, I won't forget the big headache while in the middle of the sea. I was surprised with Juliana, I expected her to vomit non-stop, as she easily gets motion sickness, but she kept her composure the whole time... good girl! Abang Atid was catching one sotong after another, while Yan caught the biggest sotong I have ever seen, but she always run away from it when she gets one, because it shoots out black liquid... yucks.
  • We played Volleyball, beside the kubur, which is very funny because we rather the ball go and land anywhere else other than inside the compound. This is the only place where we swim, eat our meals, play games beside a cemetery...hehehe...
  • In Kuantan, Juliana and Iman slept at Zeti/Iskandar's room, while me, yati, abg atid and bapak shared a room. I never forget me, abg atid and bapak sitting together at the window to watch the German/Ecuador match at the big projection screen outside our window, while the Poland/Costarica match on Tv..... that's a world cup moment!
  • Tasik Kenyir was so picturesque, its like standing infront of a giant painting. Its man-made dam , has 340 islands and its twice the size of singapore. You have to park your car and call/use the buggy service to go anyway after that at the resort. To go there, you need to drive through the jungle, as the lake is really in the middle of it. The drive back to KT was more interesting, we took a short-cut (learnt from the BP pump guy), and cow shit was all over the road, there were so many lembu in that district, many times I drove beside their butts. Smell of shit and urine everywhere, but it was a shorter route. We will certainly come back here in the September holidays.
  • Batu Buruk Beach Resort at KT, is my second favourite resort (rm105). Its like Awang only thing is its near the city and places of interests. The room is nice and cosy. And on every Fridays, the batu burok pasar malam is beside the resort only, so no need to drive.
  • Pulau Duyong (Kota Lama), we thought we going to an island, but it turns out to be an old kampong (quite eerie), a place where the locals built boats for a living. I think I drove to every nook and cranie of the village, but the weird thing is there's a lot of houses but not much people.
  • The Terengganu State Museum is the biggest museum I ever been in. It really looks majestic from outside. There's a "1001 pameran ajaib" which showcase all the weird stuff that happens in the world, but thats not scary.. in the main exhibition hall about Terengganu, there's a section about the local burial ceremony. Terperanjat kodok seh, they taruk a real dummy pocong dalam kubur kat situ.... wonder how it looks like at night. There's also a showcase of a lot of keris used by Rajas (abg ram mesti suka this one). And also we learn that the name Terengganu, actully came about when the locals call it "Taring Anu", when they found a canine's tooth there.
  • While we were there, the place was happening, because they had this "Hadhari" event, so there's a lot of booth open, Bacaria, TV9, Power-Root... supposedly Mawi pun datang on Friday, so we thought we going to see himlah ambik gambar, sekali kat TV3 cakap last minute they cancel, then when we were back in JB baca newspaper, rupanya he rescheduled to Saturday, so melepaslah kita tak dapat ambik gambar dengan dia.

So that's some of the sweet memories we had while on holiday. Very memorable time with my brothers, my father, my wife/children, my nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews... which reminds me of baby Batrisyah, the youngest traveller, only 1 and half month old, dah naik bot, pergi pulau, travelled from East to West malaysia, I think she enjoyed herself too. Reminds me when my children was about that age, and I drove them all over Malaysia... it's actually good to bring them young because they will get used to the long journeys when they get older.

Didn't get to take photos or videos, because in a hurry last week forgot to bring along my videocam... So please someone, yan, eti or abg kadir compile all the pics and burn them to CD for me, I need to relived those memories.

So now even though we are back in Singapore, my heart is still in Terengganu.....

I'll be back "home"...

One big horny family go vacation East Malaysia

Selepas tu kita menunggu lagi 2 rombongan kereta di Mersing... foooh tunggu macam buah iman tak jatuh, 2 jam dok menunggu, rupa2nya dia orang kena jam kat checkpoint. Tak beranilah nak potong, kang tak pasal-pasal kena rm150.

Abang Atid ni kan dia kuat makanlah, dari start holiday sampai balik, asyik beli makanan aje. Pagi dah nasi lemak, lepas tu keropok 2 packet, lepas tu burger, dan malam pulak dah makan nasi, dia beli 3 burger lagi.

Sampai kat Awang, macam biasalah tempat tu sunyi dan nyaman, dan dinner kita makan kat tepi pantai Dungun. Malam tengah tidur pulak hujan lebat, sampai blackout. Yan terpekik-pekau "BLACKOUT! BLACKOUT!

Kita orang check-in lepas tu rileks sampai dinner, lauknya sotong pedas dan ikan. Lepas dinner kita ada program Chandat Sotong.

Chandat Sotong
Kita naik bot pukul 8:30 petang. Actually activity ni ada dua bahagian. Satu kumpulan - Abg Atid, Wakdir, Yan, Bapak dan Herman tangkap sotong, lagi satu kumpulan - Yati, Atiqa, Iskandar, Iman dan 3x buang sotong (aka Muntah). Mula-mula ok, tapi lepas 1 jam tak ok lansung. Yati yang start dulu, lepas tu Atiqa, kemudian Iskandar... Aku pulak stuck in between Yati dan Iskandar, daripada ok jadi tak ok.. semua isi perut keluar. Yang irritating si Yati, "Bilang Abg Kadirlah balik"... "Abg kadir nak balik!!!"... hang macam malas nak layan, orang semua seronok fishing dia sibuk nak balik.

Snorkelling
19 June - Hari ni kita berkobar-kobar sikit pasal nak pergi snorkelling. Yati dia bawak bekal limau nipis pasal takut muntah. Snorkelling syioklah for me, this is one of the most interesting activity since the cave expidition last year.

Pada sebelah petang pula kita pergi Island tour, naik bot, tengok belakang pulau, tengok2 jugak tapi takde dinosaur keluar. Tengah2 jalan dia stop untuk tunjuk kita marine fish, dan kita kasi makan roti, very nice.Malam time pulak kita makan barbeque, sotong yang ditangkap semalam. Tak termakan pasal banyak sangat.

20 June - Pagi selepas sarapan kita jalan-jalan ke chalet sebelah island - Makcik Gemok chalet. Haii apasallah panggil diri sendiri gemok... kita tengok kat situ lagi murah, dari duduk resort kita, next time bolehlah duduk situ pulak.

Selepas balik ke jeti, kita bermalam di Kuantan, Mega View Hotel rm155, very nice hotel. Dinner pulak Wakdir belanja the whole family makan ikan bakar, sambut Father's day - "TERIMAKASIH CIKGU!"...

21 June - Abg Atid dan Bapak pun pulang menaiki bas dan selapas tu Wakdir family pun berangkat ke PD, tinggallah kita sefamily. Selepas checkout kita ke Tasik Kenyir, Trengganu. Fooyoh bagus lah tempat ni, sungguh tengah-tengah hutan tapi tak menyeramkan sangat. Harga semalam rm160 di Tasik Kenyir Lake View resort. Perjalanan ke sana sungguh ke-ulu sangat, straight aje.

22 June - Pulang dari Tasik Kenyir, kita menginap di Pantai Batu Buruk Terengganu rm 105. Ni sekarang kita kat cybercfafe Pantai Ketapang selepas dinner kat tepi laut. Tengah-hari tadi kita pergi Museum Trengganu, foooh happeninglah tempat ni, carnival macam-macam, dan besok pulak Mawi dan Marsha datang kat situ, so kita pun nak ke sana lagi....

to be continued - cybercafe ni nak tutup pulak....

Frequency 679mhz

3X says "Still in the topic of World Cup, this year looks like our local broadcaster only show 4 matches, which is same like, might as well no need to show, catch no ball. So for those non-subscribers and would like to get into the action, connect your TV using a UHF antenna (can be bought at $4, its a round type) and tune to SCTV (Indonesia channel) at frequency 679mhz. It shows all the 64 matches. This signal is quite strong, so you could get it in most parts of the island. Have fun!

Gonna be another long night...

3X says "*yawn* what the heck, I slept the whole day after the last game. Ivory coast was such a good team, at least Drogba got to score, but they were surprisingly dominating in that game. Crespo's goal was so stupidly unchallenged, damn! Incidentally you know what the indonesia call Ivory Coast.. Pulau gading team.. hilarious.

update 9:30pm: Wide awake watching Serb and Netherlands match, still waiting for Van Nistleroy first goal. My favourite player of all time Marco Van basten (now coach lah of course) is looking good. (did you guys see him wipe his face with a sponge, and then after that want to pass it to the guy next to him... yucks).

update 10:20pm: I am so goona be in trouble, the house is in a mess. Clothes, papers, food, trash everywhere in the house, looks like hurricane blew in the house. Tommorrow when the queen comes home, mampus aku....

update 10:50pm: Serb and Holland game was very uninspiring, no ideas, clumsy move, unnecessary tackles. Anyway, next match should be good - Asia Champ vs North America champ - Iran vs Mexico. Wonder who is Mexico goalie - remember Campos 1994-2002 he always wear bright colour jersey and then sometimes he also go up become striker. Anyway to keep you guys awake till midnight heres a clip I found. Its a girl with soccer tricks - how cool is she... watch it...

World Cup 2006

3X says "Woah... World cup starts with the best match so far - Germany vs Costa Rica - 3 goals every first 5 minutes... so exciting, I thought maybe upset when costa rica equalised, german defence so shaky. Wanchope should be player of the match, not Klose, although both wanchope goals look like offside. Poland and Equador also not bad, hmmm... macam-mana Ecuador boleh menang, first upset of this world cup. England and Paraguay match got so many free kick, most of them not in england favour..hmmm.. maybe refereee kelong. Now watching Sweden vs Trinidad, Singapore referee seh... Singapore is finally IN the world cup, referee represent boleh jugaklah.... match still playing, both side got no finishing...macam mana mata ni nak segar sampai pagi... pukul 3am Argentina game pulak... stay awake! stay awake!"

update 1:40am Sweden and Trinidad game is hilarious... Sweden cannot score hahaha... Hislop must be the best goalkeeper at the moment, and all the players are defender like there's no strikers aje and the Trinidad supporters are the most loudest... Ljunberg, Larson and Ibrahimovic sampai penat seh cannot score, so many tries, almost like every 3 minutes, and trinidad only 10 men. hahaha I'm enjoying this game...

update 2:00am last game score 0-0, trinidad celebrate like they won the cup already.. haha.. now waiting for next match, Argentina vs Drogba hehehe (aka Ivory Coast), not bad not so sleepy now, so can stay awake for another 3 hours. Tomorrow gonna have one big headache. Yesterday watch at Mcdonalds (Yishun Junction 8) with friends after watching movie "Slither", and then the 3am game at Iman restaurant near home... reach home 6am, straight away go jogging, sleep at 9am - 2pm, then went jogging again at Lower Pierce reservoir, make friends with the monkeys there... today members call to watch, but I don't feel like it, so stay home watch alone. Now blogging to keep myself awake...

update 3:04am hahaha Argentina vs Cote d'Ivoire or Crespo vs Drogba or Chelsea vs Chelsea... phwwererrrrreeett ... woohoooo Maradona also in attendance. I give Argentina 1 and half ball... any takers?

3X says "Lonely... I am so Lonely... I have nobody... for a week... Today the wife and kids have gone to Ayer Hitam to stay with their Wan and Aki for a week, so that leaves me with the whole weekend with nothing but World Cup... hmmm... where should I go? lepak at my friends place and watch together?... go out and watch with the guys at xxxx ? what other options do I have.... watch at home alone? (I don't think so)... where to go... where to go..."
