XBOX - the ultimate media machine

3X says "For today's lesson, uncle would like to tell you more about this piece of technology, that I find to be one of the most useful piece of appliance for your home, and doesn't cost much. Its the XBOX , and not those new 360 types, those are crap. I'm talking about the original XBOX games console.

So why do I classify this as one of the most useful tech, while there are a lot of other new and latest games consoles out there. For one simple reason - you can turn it into an ultimate media player for your home. You see, out of the box, the Xbox is just another games console - you slip in an Xbox DVD game, and you start playing, that's all. But once you do some modification to it, it turns into something else.

The keyword here is, modding it. Some people hardmodded it (which you send to 'some shop' for it to be installed with a chip - could set you back at $80 - $150), and there are some, like me who soft-mod it myself, using a PC and hotswapping the hard disk to install linux.

Other than playing Xbox games, I streamed my video collections to the Xbox, and XBMC played it perfectly, never a glitched during playback everytime. I changed the hard disk to 160gb, and it's more than enough to store the games, movies, songs, pics locally, and bring it to the hotels, and plug it to the hotel's TV. You can streamed youtube, comedy central, football channel, apple trailers, any media from the internet to it. Read more about XBMC http://xbmc.org/.

You can get a second hand Xbox at cash convertor for just $99, and I even bought the dvd remote at just $8. Trust me, no other console, no matter how latest and new and expensive they are, that can do this.

3X says "Harry Redknapp deserves the win. He deserves this recognition. He got his dreams. He is the number 1 manager... For he's a jolly good fellow! ok granted the goal for them is the result of a bumbling error from Cardiff's goalkeeper (tangan banyak butter agaknya), still a win in this game is THE FA Cup Winner, and goes on to Euro for the UEFA cup next season. This final was a no brainer, Cardiff hardly put up a fight, I think David James also got bored at one time, all their shots are like american football, mostly over the post. Kanu also got at least 2 or 3 more chance but failed to go in. Wembley Stadium roars for Portsmouth !!!!!

Latest news (nasib macam kentang): Two medals "kena kebas" from the winners... alamak! main penat-penat, member balik takde proof menang... hehe...

The Contender Asia - Muay Thai

3X says "I am so hooked on Muay Thai, or rather the reality TV show The Contender, where 16 Muay Thai fighters fight for the US$150,000 prize. There's of course Thai fighters, US, UK, Sweden, France... and even this 1 guy from Singapore. hmmmm... I thought its the Asia edition, how come no Malaysian, Indonesians, or even Japan or Koreans? 

Anyway, I was addicted to the series, and having missed it from AXN, and rather than have to wait for week after week from Channel 5, the next best thing is to download the whole series. (hint : VeohTV got the whole episodes). 

My fav is Yoddi, and of course John Wayne Parr. These guys, even though they are tough as nails, fight each other to a bloody pulp, yet... they can still be friends and they turn soft muffins when they are with their mother or family. Yoddi was kissing his mother like a small child, but in the ring, I think he can kill people with his kicks and punches, and he is the World Champion. The chemistry between them is what makes the show interesting. 

Mark Burnett really know how to make TV shows that show the human side of any competition. Rather than focus on only fights, he combines "Survivor" style human interactions with Muay Thai. This sport is very violent and deadly, but seeing the fighters in their vunerable state and emotion when living together, you can't help but feel for their friendship and lifes. 

This was filmed in Singapore, and it was amusing that the background of interviews, are like at HDB car parks, in front of our longkangs, and I think because of lack of cinematographic places, they keep showing our busy PIE, CTE, BKE roads... hilarious. Anyway hope they'll be a season 2 soon.

Apple Exam

3X says "Well after making the company pay $4k for the course, now is time to take the exam for it. And after persuading the boss to pay for the exam (around $300), and making a promise that I will pass it, and sounding so confident, and even cocky, by saying that I will pay the company back twice the amount if I fail... lo and behold... I did failed... getting 68% out of the 90 questions. The passing mark is 73%, and after doing the calculation, discovered I'm only short of 4 correct answers. 

So the week after the boss came and asks... "So exam pass or fail? If you fail, I'll kick your ass!"... I said, holding my head "I think you can sack me already" and showed him my result slip. He laughed and said "Good luck explaining to HR... hahaha".

*sigh* ...... what to do... study a little harder next time, and retake the exam... maybe if I fail again, they will really sack me.... hahaha (very dry laugh).
