Fireworks FestivalEve of national day 8th Aug, we went to catch the fireworks festival again, but this time we caught it at
the Merlion. It was jam everywhere, people and vehicles. We had to park a few blocks, about 10mins walk. Finally reached there at 8:30pm and searched for a good location, but there were
trees everywhere and the good spots are either taken up by sitting spectators or it was a restaurant area. And when it finally starts, most of the fireworks were behind the damn trees...sigh... but all is not in vain, it was
still electrifying, with all the people in awe.
Cosmo Inn HotelThe next day, 9th Aug, we simply don't know what to do or where to go, so we all just got in the car and we would decide inside while driving (we are always
impromptu people,
we never plan anything beforehand),. 5 mins after that, got sms from
Sweetdarlings inviting us to picnic at East Coast and they caught a lot of fish. So I drove to PIE, but along the way (before Paya Lebar), the sky got dark, and the
prospect of rain is inevitable. We then vision a wet picnic scrambling for shelter, and Yati then decided she wants to go Johor, so we
Uturn heading back towards the checkpoint. Luckily it wasn't jammed at the woodlands checkpoint, but unluckily it was jammed at the causeway bridge. After passport chopped, we then think that going through another jam when returning back is not what we want to go through again. So we stayed at
Cosmo Inn Hotel (formerly called Merlin Inn), located just
beside Tanjung Puteri. Its rm80 (about SGD$35) per night with breakfast, very cheap. Its clean, nice and cosy. So we spent the rest of the day, relaxing, eating in Johor, and spent the evening sitting beside the sea at Tanjung Pelepas watching the sunset while eating kerepeks and keropoks.
Tanjung Sedili Black, muddy sand beach... good for facialsThe next day after checking out, we
decided in the car to go
Tanjung Sedili and swim. So off we went about an hour drive there, its very soothing driving along the old roads with kampongs at the side. We spent a few hours swimming, for info if you want to go there, park your car at
Jason Beach Resort (rm70 per night) as there's a
shower facility there, the public is usually close during the weekdays. The beach there is different, the sand is black and muddy but has a smooth texture, if you put it all over your face, like what I did (look like
swamp thing monster), it feels so relaxing and nice. I think its used in facials at spas, you should try it.
So to cut long story short, we spent the remaining days of the week at
Ayer Hitam. The kids were thrilled to see their
Wan and Aki, who incidentally just finish watching Akademi Fantasia season 4, and the winner is Faizal (from Trengganu), we don't think he will be as popular as Mawi, as he doesn't have the X factor and aura. Get to
jolok and pick the rambutan tree in front of the house, and brought home a lot of the fruit.... and basically thats how we spent the week.
