4X says "So here we are finally, nearly 3 weeks living in the suburbs of Johor... My dream of living in malaysia, finally realised... and surprisingly my commuting everyday to and from sg and my has been smooth. Early morning I set off at 7:30am and reaching my work place at 8:30am... an hour's drive. Actually car lanes at the checkpoints (sg and my) are relatively empty in the morning and evening, but motorcycle lanes are packed and long queues most of the time.
My fear of commuting in jams everyday, is finally laid to rest. From Horizon Hills to Keppel Road is always smooth (120kmph), but from Keppel Road onwards there will be slight slowdown (70kmph), but once I reach ECP its smooth drive again all the way to work. In fact, if not for Keppel Road, I think I can reach work in 40 mins. Of course, it's a little costlier to drive from Second Link, but because of cheaper malaysia petrol and no monthly season parkings, plus cheaper food and parking anywhere in johor is free, I think it balances out the toll charges. In fact, driving in on the bridge and gelang patah expressway gives me peace of mind and serenity.
With regards to the First Link... well I don't want to talk about that... that way is a nightmare, starting from Angsana all the way to the sg checkpoint. You can get stuck for an hour if you take the first link path in the morning. It's cheaper, in fact no cost at all, but it will cost you your time.
So for me, Second Link will be the best way for me during the weekdays, but if I need to go Sg during the weekends, I'll take the First Link, because that's the time when Sgreans go to Johor, and I'll be at the other side of the jam.. haha...
